About us

From a Lakeside Classic to Your Private Retreat

The Showboat Hotel has always been more than just a place to sleep; it is a landmark of Seneca Lake’s vibrant history. What began as a traditional Finger Lakes destination has evolved into a private, Lakeside Casual-Chic retreat designed for modern explorers.

Our mission is simple: to offer a high-quality, serene getaway where the luxury is approachable, the wine is world-class, and every member of your family—including the four-legged ones—feels genuinely at home. We’ve traded corporate formality for personal touches, nightly bonfires, and the unmistakable peace that only the water can provide.

ORIGIN

Inspired by Norma Broome’s Broadway career, the first "Creekside" building was constructed to resemble an early 20th-century showboat. This was the start of a decade-long expansion that would eventually include our Poolside and Lakeside buildings.

THE GOLDEN ERA

The Showboat became a sanctuary for the era's biggest icons. Michael Landon famously rented the entire property for solitude, and Rod Serling (creator of The Twilight Zone) was a regular visitor, often arriving by yacht from Cayuga Lake.

Under new leadership, the Showboat developed a superb reputation centered around its restaurant. It became the definitive social hub for boaters looking for a "dock and dine" experience on Seneca Lake.

COMMUNITY

The Showboat became the official home of the Powerboat Poker Runs. For decades, offshore powerboaters have gathered here every summer to showcase their vessels and celebrate the vibrant lake culture.

THE RESTORATION

Under new ownership, the property underwent extensive renovations. We’ve bridged our historic roots with modern, "Lakeside Casual-Chic" comforts—upgrading our rooms to be "Pet-Forward" and expanding our wedding capabilities with our 200-guest waterfront tent.
